My Reiki Story

There are a few questions that every client asks me in a Reiki session.

The top question is:

"How did you start doing this/how did you discover you could do this?"

So today, I'm going to share with you my "Reiki story"…

I had been working with clients in the realm of Holistic Wellness - mostly focused on nutrition and diet. Of course we focused on the whole person, given the word Holistic, but I found that it was difficult to go deeper with clients.

A lot of the things that we discussed, existed in 3D, tangible things -- yet, a lot of the issues were stemming from deeper stories, stuck emotions, past traumas, etc.

Things that we can't exactly heal by simply eliminating gluten or dairy…

Now let me be very clear -- I believe it is very important what we consume, how we consume it, etc. But that also goes much deeper.

Diet is so very individual and we can really only get clear on what works best for us when we can tap into how we feel…but if we can't even tap into how we feel then it's more difficult to serve and heal the body.

Not to mention, there is a bigger problem with our food system, scarcity, etc. For me, it felt a bit helpless. It didn't feel fulfilling to talk about the benefits of avocados when some people don't even have access, when we consider how they are grown, transported, etc.

It can get complicated.

[There is a lot more here that I will likely go into in another post]

So that left me asking, praying, begging -- for something to be shown to me, another modality that I could use to help get to the core of health issues, and help clients to heal.

That prayer was answered in late January of 2021.

We had been really into skating and playing hockey that winter and were headed out for a nice little evening session.

I hadn't been on the ice 30-seconds and my right skate logged into a crack, lurching me forward, and then slamming me back down onto my tailbone, so hard that I bounced back up onto my hands and knees.

Holy shit - I had been officially ROCKED. Thankfully there was an abundance of ice nearby that I could lay on until I felt like I could even move safely.

It took weeks to heal and I THANK GOD I had access to chiropractic and other healing modalities the very next day. I know for SURE that is what allowed me to heal properly.

The fact that nothing broke and that I healed, is truly a miracle considering how hard I fell.

The days and weeks that followed, slowly began to show me that I was not the same. Something had changed or shifted in me.

There are theories about a spontaneous or forced Kundalini rising, and some talk about codes and genes that exist in the base of our spine that can be "awakened" with impact to the tailbone.

I don't know if that's what happened, but I know that nothing was the same.

I also know that when I thought back to that moment, I could recall a sensation of hands on my shoulders, slamming me onto the ice, and the command, "Sit down!"

Was it God? Was it divine intervention?

I like to believe it was. In fact, I do believe it was.

A couple of months after the fall, I had a spontaneous desire to try energy work on my companion - Kyle. He is, thankfully, very open and was willing to let me try it out on him.

Keep in mind, I had never done this before, didn't know what I was doing, didn't really even know what Reiki was, and had never experienced it (with the exception of a session I had years prior, that was most likely some form of energy work but I'm not sure that it was Reiki).

So there we were -- he laid on the living room floor and I began…

I was following my intuition as to where I should place my hands and was first drawn to his feet -- I could feel an overwhelming sensation of love - this took form as a visual of someone from above pouring gold coins - they were streaming down, hitting my chest and flowing into Kyle. It was WILD.

I moved then to his head and wondered if I could connect with his Spirit Guide - I could see a woman in a white dress, named Lacey, walking away from me. As I attempt to connect with her, she turns around and holds her hand up to stop me - she states, "that's enough now".

In that moment, I thought she was protecting him, but she was actually protecting me.

What I didn't realize at the time was that I was using my own energy, rather than "channeling" energy, like you do in Reiki.

So even though the 'session' was wild and amazing, and we both had a wonderful experience - much of it mirroring -- I was left feeling pretty exhausted.

This was the first lesson: If this was something I was capable of doing, I first and foremost needed to know how to protect myself.

Shortly thereafter I began looking at options for Reiki training and was eventually recommended a particular Master -- and guess what her name was?

LACEY.

You can't make this stuff up.

As you may have guessed, I did my trainings and attunements through her.

It has been the greatest, most gratifying and most fulfilling part of my journey so far.

I often wonder if, prior to that fall (probably starting in childhood), I had been able to pick up on images, visuals, or sensations and learned to ignore them or shut them off.

That's probably the case. That's probably the case for most of us.

This is why I believe that anyone can do or learn Reiki, even though most people look at me with hesitation when I tell them they are capable.

Most other practitioners stories are not quite this ethereal, they usually just decide they want to learn Reiki (lol).

But if I know myself, and I can recall what I was like at that point in my life -- I wasn't a great listener.

So God got creative and found another way to show me the answer to the question I was asking.

And I am forever grateful.
